Medical Risk Consultant

About me

Originally from Jamaica, I am a professional social worker and registered nurse. I have been an RN for 45 years, most recently putting my experience to work as a medical risk consultant.

I am the author of The Little Pink Purse of Courage, a personal story and list of questions for your oncologist, and principal author of In Search of the Green, a step by step guide on how to start and maintain a successful investment club.

I am the founder and president of the 18 year old Beanstalk Investment Club of Miami and member of the board of the Better Investing Southeast Florida Chapter.

I know asthma. I am an asthmatic.

An asthmatic from infancy, I advocate to improve awareness of the disease, its causes and its management.

I designed, implemented and executed the Asthmatic Disease Management program at one of the nation's largest HMOs. I developed and organized the first Asthma Fair held at the Baptist Hospital in Miami. And, my article, Asthma Management at the Source, was published in 2005 in Case Manager.

Confounded by both the fear I felt and the fear I saw, I built a practical tool to made a difference.

I wrote The Little Pink Purse of Courage - a booklet of specific questions for my sister - at the onset of her treatment for breast cancer. The questions help a patient understand her treatment better as well as establish her expectations for care with the doctor and staff.

My investment success has come from my accountability to my club.

My belief in financial awareness and security led me to form the Beanstalk Investment Club with two co-workers.

In 2005 I published In Search of the Green: How to Start Your Own Investment Club When You Don't Know from Beans to chronicle my club's formation and experience. And, I speak to groups seeking my advice and insights on forming investment clubs.

The Miami Herald newspaper and Black Enterprise have covered my work as well as the local NBC Morning Show in Florida.

Patricia was educated both in the United States and the West Indies. She obtained her RN in New York and her social work degree at the University of West Indies. She holds a diploma in Asthma Education from the National Respiratory Training Center in the United States, a program affiliated with the University of Warwick in Great Britain. She is a certified national case manager.

Mother of two adult children, she is the loving and energetic hub of an extended family. She lives in Miami, Florida.
